How to Blow dry curly hair good and fast?

I have curly hair like little ringlets.

I want to straighten it but only a liitle and use a blow dryer.

Give me step by step from like getting in the shower to finishing. How to Blow dry curly hair good and fast?
If you blow dry curly hair it will just get poofy and huge--it is not straightening in the slightest unless you have wavy hair (not exactly ringlets). To get straight hair you would have to use a flat iron, which would make your hair stick straight. Good quality irons are expensive and it is a very long process to straighten curly hair (unless it's really short).

Do you wear your hair naturally? It's a lot better for your hair and easier. Here are some cool curly hair sites:

Can a girl with curly hair look nice with layers and side bangs?

Hi! I have curly long hair and i just wanted to know if layers and side bangs will look good on it. Also here is another question: where can i get the haircut in iselin if it looks nice?

Thanx! Can a girl with curly hair look nice with layers and side bangs?
absolutely! just make sure you get the correct layers (your hairstylist will know) for your hair type and face shape. so your style looks its best..you may want to ask your stylist for good products to use!Can a girl with curly hair look nice with layers and side bangs?
if you get a really good hairdresser that knows how to do it correctly then yes! ;]
i would say if your hair is any other color than black than no but that is just me.. if you have black hair yes on the side bangs and no on the layers. curls and layers do not mix.... unless of course you have a really good hair dresser to make it look cute. i am not sure where you could get the cut and color done. but that is my opinion.
it depends on your face shape, etc. but im sure layers and side bangs look good on almost anyone.
YEAH!!! That would look great, make sure the layers are not real dramatic(drastic changes in length).
My friend has curly hair, it has side bangs, and its a little below her shoulders and she looks GORGEOUS! I was thinking of getting it, but my hairs longer and hers doesn't frizz...

How do you maintain curly hair that has been blow-dried just after washing it ?

I use my blowdryer without a diffuser, blow dry and iron my fringe after washing( after washing my hair, i put in a heat protectant serum by L'Oreal) and then do it ..but my fringe doesnt stay straight! i have very curly hair.. but not insanely curly..any tips on how to maintain it looking straight or so throughout the day?thanks! How do you maintain curly hair that has been blow-dried just after washing it ?
Have you tried a straightening iron? They make your hair soo sleek and straight. It's easy to use and your hair stays straight longer. How do you maintain curly hair that has been blow-dried just after washing it ?
I would suggest using a straightening cream. I like to use Back to Basics brand, it usually works very well with my clients. I am a hairdresser. Apply the cream half way through your blow dying when you hair is still somewhat damp. make sure you distribute it evenly and then when you are blow drying.. definitely try flipping your head upside down and when using your flat iron, take the hair and when you get ahold of it at the top go in an up and out motion, this helps to keep it straight longer. Hope this helps!! I know how most people will tell you that you should be glad you have curls but usually people who have curls want it straight and people who have straight want curls!

How do I make my naturally curly hair less poofy/frizzy after straightening it with a flat iron?

I have naturally thick, curly hair that I really hate. My hair is also not very long (only about 6 inches in length). I'm in the process of growing my hair out, but my hair is naturally very frizzy, unmanagable, thick, and poofy. I know part of it is because its not quite long enoug to weigh itself down, but is there anything I can do to make my hair not so poofy? How do I make my naturally curly hair less poofy/frizzy after straightening it with a flat iron?
Try to work w/ your curls rather than straightening them. If you spend a bit of time learning how to work with them, I know you'll be surprised at how great they can look.

Some frizz-fighting tips:

* A good haircut is key

* Sleep on a satin pillowcase

* Don't shampoo every day

* Comb conditioner through hair in the shower

* Avoid terrycloth towels; use microfiber instead

* Air dry or use a diffuser

* Use styling products suited for your hair type

* NEVER use a brush

* Don't touch your hair

* A pomade is great for mid-day touchupsHow do I make my naturally curly hair less poofy/frizzy after straightening it with a flat iron?
Try the John Frieda Frizz Ease collection. I use the extra-strength hair serum after my shower, and it really works well.

I would suggest giving the Weather Works shampoo and conditioner a try, along with the serum I use (purple pump container).

And definitely continue to grow out your hair!

JOHN FRIEDA: http://www.johnfrieda.com/products/produ鈥?/a>
try this steps

1- apply mayonnaise on your hair for two hours twice a week

2- mix castor oil + sweet almond oil

then apply it on your hair for four hours once a week

3- use a good shampoo and conditioner

I suggest dove or herbal essence

both are great
after straightening pull it back in a pony, tight, but not so tight that it will leave a dent. Therun some creme gel threw it, sunsilk makes a good creme gel and it will soften your frizz. hope I could help

  • How do I keep my naturally curly hair from frizzing out on hot days?

I work with children during the summer and I am outside from 9-3. On hot days my hair is a mess. How do i prevent it from frizzing out and looking like a disaster? How do I keep my naturally curly hair from frizzing out on hot days?
I have naturally curly hair, so I know what you go through! I've been through every product possible for curly hair and specifically for humid weather protection. The best that I've found is costly but worth it:

Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum! $17.00

    After using that apply this:

    Ampro Pro-Style Gel! $3.00

Also there's a great site for people with our hair type called naturally curly dot com. They're great up there with lots of advice. GLUCK!How do I keep my naturally curly hair from frizzing out on hot days?
Pantene makes an anti-frizz product that works fantastic. It is in a little black tube and it looks like lotion. Just use a small amount but it is awsome. I also have naturally curly hair and it's hard to find anything that works like I need it too but this stuff works.
There are products you can get at a beauty supply or something that you already have - hand lotion.

Put a tiny amount in you palm. Rub it with your other hand, and pet your hair after it is clean and dry. A tiny dab will do.

You only need it once a day and may need to also wash your hair every day since outside is a place where there is a lot of dust, fumes, carbon particles, pollen, and general air pollution that can make your hair look dirty in one day.

    Good luck.
take a little bit of Sheen (an afro american hair product) and when I say a little I mean very little and put it in the frizziest places and work it through... it's kind of like a grease keeps your hair weighed down. If you practice and find just the right amount it won't be frizzy or greasy
there is this anti-frizz spray i use! but its germa i m sure they ahave some in ur country 2 though!
useing alot of gel and hair spray. and useing stuff that says frizz be gone (or something like that) and always keep a hair band on your wrist just in case. (and only brush curly hair when its wet)

    good luck with your hair.

How do I moisturize my naturally curly hair?

I have naturally curly hair. I blow dry it usually to get it to liven up and curly nicely. But that leaves me hair dry. And when it's dry, it will only get fuzzy undefined curls. I have started to only shampoo once every 3 or so week and just condition and not rinse out my conditioner. That seems to work, but then my hair gets greasy and my head starts to get a light odor because it isn't clean. Do you have any things that will moisturize my curls? Products or remedies? How do I moisturize my naturally curly hair?
I have the same type of hair... except mine is mid-calf... NEVER been cut. SO it's prolly a 100x worse. AND I live in the tropics where the humidity is 85% almost every day.

Anyway, I was advised to shampoo once or twice a week (cuts down on grease) AND to use a MOISTURIZING conditioner (not a volumizing one... like I did) exactly like you are... don't rinse it out all the way. Letting your hair naturally air dry might help. How do I moisturize my naturally curly hair?

For all ethnicities- also sold at Sephora!
A Beverly Hills celebrity hairstylist advised in a magazine that he recommends when in a hurry, use a bit of baby oil for that moisture in curly hair, and when trying to keep the natural oils (not washing hair for a few days) - to avoid odor and the greasy look, dab on baby powder on the scalp.
Before you take a shower put your conditioner in your have then use a shower cap for 30 minutes this will allow the moisture to really soak your hair follicles, then after you rinse it out dry your hair off with a cotton t-shirt, this make it so that your hair won't frizz up and cause them to be fuzzy
This could be my hair! What I have started doing and it working okay...Wash your hair with conditioner( no shampoo) and rinse it out well..get a hair dryer with a diffuser. I use shampoo about once a month to get the build up out.

so i have the same exact hair as u but i have side bangs and that really play up and give you lots of hairstyles
just put some gel or mousse......
i also have the same hair type i use a straightning gel or mousse and let air dry i had my hair cut a few months ago cut just below the shoulder with layers which really help with the frizzies side swept bangs go well with this
I have The same hair exept I have bangs that have grown out and now reach the bottom of my lips

I take a clip and clip it back to make side bangs kinda and I straighten it almost everyday.:)

What to do if you have curly hair and want to grow it?

I moved away from my old salon, and when I went back to do my hair I had major split ends. They had to cut 2 inches off of my hair. Now my hair is like a little bit longer than shoulder length. I want to grow it back and keep it healthy. How can I ?What to do if you have curly hair and want to grow it?

    I bought her this book:

    http://www.amazon.com/Curly-Girl-Lorrain鈥?/a>

I'll let you read the reviews, however I would highly recommend buying this book.

I'll sum up everything it says more or less.

It says, stop using shampoo because the heavy detergents are really drying your hair out. Instead use alot of conditioner, and wash your scalp like you would your skin. The book ideas are a little unconviental, but there are a lot of people on amazon who swear by the book..What to do if you have curly hair and want to grow it?
Curly hair tends to be naturally dry, not as bad is you are mixed, so you need to keep your hair moisturized as much as possible. Condition your hair at least every day. Even if lotion is the only moisturizer around you at the time, use it, but only a little.

And you should get your hair trimmed every 3-6 weeks.

    Hope I helped :)
leave it down as much as possible, dont use heat, if you use a straightener, it will make the ends burned and then youll have to get more cut off, and get it trimmed every 6 weeks. if you dont, then your hair will get really bad split ends.
Avoid heat styling if you can (if not, keep it down to a minimum) and just leave it alone. There is no magic bullet when it comes to hair growth, you just have to let it grow.
Try not ton damage it (too much blow drying)

Deep condition it 1-3 times a week.

Get about half an inch of your hair trimeed every 4-8 weeks. :)

Shampoo everyother day to keep it from drying out.

How to get curly hair without the frizz?

My hair is an absolute mess! My mom has straight hair, and my dad has curly hair, so my hair is in the middle just enough to make it a disaster. Its frizzy and poofy and all over the place. I spend a very long time in the morning straightening it. I would like to curl my hair. I like the look of scrunching it, but when I do, no matter what I use, the frizz is awful. I have tried anti-frizz creams but nothing works. Any suggestions? How to get curly hair without the frizz?
Here are some basic tips for curly hair that you might find helpful:

*Try to find a stylist who knows how to work with curly hair. A great tool for finding curly stylists in your area: http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlsalons

    *Don't shampoo every day.

*Comb conditioner through hair in the shower.

*Apply styling products to dripping wet hair. Scrunch or twirl hair to achieve desired shape. A leave in conditioner under gel is generally good.

*Avoid terrycloth towels on hair; use linen, paper towels, or t-shirts instead.

*Try plopping to decrease drying time: http://www.wikihow.com/Plop-Your-Hair

*Air dry or use a diffuser with your blowdryer.

*Don't touch (or brush!) your hair while it鈥檚 drying.

*Once completely dry scrunch out any crunchy texture.

    1) DON'T STRAIGHTEN ALL THE TIME!!! The straightening damages the hair, creating split ends, which creates frizz. If you do straighten it, use a heat protector spray.

    2) Do not get layers! Layers accentuate your waves, but frizz also.

AVOID WASHING AND BLOW DRYING HAIR EVERY DAY- MAKES IT VERY FRIZZY!!!

    Hope I helped! =D
I have exactly the same situation, except I never really straighten my hair!

I bought this conditioner called 'Curl Around' or something, in the Frizz-Ease line by John Frieda.

I also bought the spray stuff that you use after/in the morning and then scrunch.

It gives my hair more of a defined curl and keeps it less frizzy!

Sometimes shorter pieces of my hair still frizz a little, but maybe that's be less of a problem if I bought the shampoo and serum?

    Good luck!
I have curly hair too, and this is what i do every morning. I'm thinking it works pretty well, because I always get compliments on it :D

Take a shower, and then towel dry your hair just a bit so it's not soaking wet. Then put some product in it - my favorite is Garnier Fructis Playstyle Reshapeable Putty (see the link below). work it all through your hair, then scrunch it a little bit. Then, flip your head upside down and blowdry it until it's almost dry. Let it airdry the rest of the way (this helps prevent frizzing) and then put a little bit of Shine Serum on it (A VERY LITTLE BIT though, it can make your hair really greasy if you aren't careful) Also, keep a bottle of hand lotion with you throughout the day, and if your hair gets frizzy, then smooth a little of that on and you should be good to go :D

    Hope I helped :)
    same for me !

my mom has straight hair and my dad has really curly hair..but my hair just comes out realllllllly curly lol. when i scrunch my hair with moose, it isn't frizzy at all..make sure your putting in ALOT of moose and scrunching it. if you want try curling it with a curling iron and a some sprays of hair spray and the frizz should stay down[=

It works better than any brand.

I have really thick, naturally curly hair. But I don't know how to do anything with it. Usually I just wet it down, towel dry it, and then dry the rest of it with a hair dryer. Afterwards I spray some hair spray in it and scrunch it. But it always looks flat and very, VERY, frizzy.

he needs to learn how to use products.
ear length? if it is too short it will be frizzy, if it is too long it will look shaggy. i would go for an in-between look. also he can use hair styling things if he wants to.

How do I straighten my super curly hair myself? It usually takes around 8hr at the salon. ?

First it is relaxed, rinsed, washed and deep conditioned. Then 1-1.5 hrs under hair dryer, blow dryed and then flat ironed. I just don't have then money to keep this process up. Anyone have any suggestions? How do I straighten my super curly hair myself? It usually takes around 8hr at the salon. ?
i think the best product is the maxiglide. i got mine a couple years ago, and i can't live without it! go to the website, maxiusbeauty.com to see how it works. How do I straighten my super curly hair myself? It usually takes around 8hr at the salon. ?
Well you can just get it relaxed and if you have a lot of hair you should probably get it thinned out...that's what I used to do. But it became a real pain and to flat iron it myself it would take four hours. I still get it thinned out and with my flat iron (its a maxius) it takes like an hour now. so you can try that.

It depends on what kind of straightener you have. Some are better than others...What kind are you using?

    I suggest GHD, works great(:

You should get it chemically straightened
chemically straightening your hair works!!! but curly hair is cool to have too!! :)

Body shop conditioner is working quite a bit for me. But i cant assure it will do the same for u.

also i tried applying olive oil to hair...leaving it for sometime and then wash hair..its giving quite a soft hair..

Or apply yogurt once a week..

Else apply egg yolk once a week which is a deep nourishing conditioner for ur hair and also cures if u have hair loss, dandruff etc.

Well, it helps to get it cut, but if you can't afford it, do this:

-Wash your hair, and let it towel dry.

-When it's completely dry (which may take all night) then straighten it.

-Use mousse or hairspray to style it.

Products don't work on me either, so that's what I do.

Im letting my curly hair grow but i want to know some things about letting it grow?

im a 16 year old boy, right now my hair looks like a curly afro, will my hair ever go down to my shoulders??and only when its dry it looks like a curly afro.could somebody tell me if it will ever stop looking like a afro and go down to my shoulders.and can you please give me tips on letting my curly hair grow.Im letting my curly hair grow but i want to know some things about letting it grow?
My hair used to be JUST like that. When I was little my hair was very coarse and had untame curls. As soon as it dried BAM! I looked like a poodle. Length will out-weigh the density of curls. But if not, then talk to a hairstylist or something. I use a few products to tame my curls, but lol i don't think you'd want to use those, since I'm a girl. But good luck!Im letting my curly hair grow but i want to know some things about letting it grow?
You need to address your stylist with these questions, as they can see and feel your hair. Sometimes, length will weigh down curl, sometimes not. Your stylist will be able to recommend products that are designed for your type of hair that would really help out.
keep getting it trimmed to prevent the ends drying out and don't use lots of hot appliences because it won't grow and don't wash it too reguarly because it slows the growing process. xx good luck xx

How did people get wavy or curly hair before curling irons and perms?

How did people curl or get their hair wavy before the invention of a curling iron or perms? I know in the 1800's they used an iron rod and heated it and wrapped the hair around that for the curls but what about waves? What about earlier times? Thanks! How did people get wavy or curly hair before curling irons and perms?
a quick trick to get wavy hair is to braid your hair while its wet and let it dry naturally. the trick with this is to lightly spray it with some hairspray and to blow dry it if you need to get somewhere quickly and prefer to shower in the morning. if you don't mind showering at night, braid it and let it dry while you sleep!

if you want more ringlet style curls, tear up strips of cloth or get some ribbon. take strips of hair and twist it then loop it up into small circles and tie it with the cloth. again, blow dry it if you shower in the morning or let it dry overnight if you shower at night! How did people get wavy or curly hair before curling irons and perms?
They used curlers for their hair. You take a section of hair, and wrap it around the curler. For looser curls, bigger curlers were used. For smaller curls, tighter curlers were used. Before that, they most likely used wigs.
natural, scrunched it, used pens and pencils and wrapped hair around it then hair sprayed it i had to do that for a cheer Competition two years ago lol
i heard that in like the 70s or 60s

women used to put aluminum cans

    Hi!!!

yeahhh! layering works for that perfectly, thats the solution, go 4 a professional haircut and they will know exactly what to do

dont do it yourself 4 obvious reasons!!I have really curly hair and I would like to cut it to just below my jaw, what can I do to make it work?
I'd go to a professional hair styalist, see what they have to say.

if not, straighten it if you haven't already done that.

(If your EVER going to straighten your hair then buy the flat iron called the Chi.

My friend has really curly hair and she puts gel in it after taking a shower or wetting her hair and lets it dry freely, and theirs no frizz and it looks so pretty too!

if you don't like gel then curling moose works great too.

you can even buy certain shampoos and conditioners that helps come down more frizz. (bed head and Aussie are good products)

What conditioner and shampoo used for curly hair to make it straight?

I have curly brown hair and I want to make it straight black hair. Any suggestions? If I iron my hair, then it should be done daily which is such a waste of time.. and pretty annoying at times. What conditioner and shampoo used for curly hair to make it straight?
Come on, embrace your hair =)

Anyway, about the color, if you want it black, have it colored by your colorist or by yourself. Try L'Oreal or Garnier.

To make your curly hair more manageable, use shampoo %26amp; conditioner with lots of moisturizer. Try looking for products with olive, honey, eggs or yoghurt.

Deep condition once a week to give your hair more 'weight'.

If you want to skip daily ironing, try chemical rebodnding. But make sure your hair is in healthy condition and you need to take extra treatment afterwards.

Last but not least, never ever iron your hair without giving it serum or heat protector first to keep it healthy and to avoid frizz.

Products to try: Kerastase Oleo Relax, The Body Shop Straight Serum, John Frieda Frizz Ease. What conditioner and shampoo used for curly hair to make it straight?
    rejoice
I had straight hair right up until 3 years ago. I had a bad perm and it was over processed. I shaved it off and then it grew back so curly..I also have dark brown hair but I felt it looked so dull. Trust be black makes you look hard.. I went for a chestnut brown which has some nice aurbun highlights.. Both curly and the colour looks great..Just try the colour.. Trying to straighten hair is annoying.. And to Think people pay heaps to have curls..we save on money and look hot..
loreal serum and the bosy shop serum are good options. to make it black you will have to colour your hair as no kind of oil or any such thing will make it naturally black.

Can you change curly hair to staright hair without a flatning iron?

My boyfriend has the most curly hair ever! One thing I've noticed is that its really hard for him to manage it. Every time he shampoos and conditions it, it puffs up into an ugly afro. Straight hair apparently has no disatvantages likewise. I was wondering if there is a way that I could help him change it without using a flatning iron? I know that he definitly wouldn't agree on a flatning iron. Can you change curly hair to staright hair without a flatning iron?
No, have him get it cut very short.

How can I control my moderately curly hair better?

I usually wear my hair up because my hair is too hard to control when it's down (too poofy, gets in the way). I would like to wear it down, but I don't want to straighten it every day. What are some simple, easy tips that I could use to control my hair? I've found that not brushing it after I shower helps, but what else can I do?How can I control my moderately curly hair better?
The biggest thing that will give you the triangle look when wearing your hair down is a bad haircut! You should have your have cut into long layers...enough to cut the corner of the triangle off. Then you need a good product, Ringlet by Redken is my favorite. Wash your hair and comb the product through, then scrunch your hair and let it air dry. Do not brush or comb your hair after it has dried, you can hand fluff if you want some volume. Your hair should look good! How can I control my moderately curly hair better?
Your shampoo and conditioner has a lot to do with this! Check to see that they are designed for anti poof and anti frizz! You must put product in it, such as a hard curl gel or hairspray. Its best to use all same brand as their components work better together. I agree with not straightening it every other day! Its too much for your hair and it will make it worse for when you do want it natural...i have tried hot smoothing serum treatments from drugstores and they act as a relaxer. They basically tame your curls about two levels down! It works well on me, but you'd have to try it. Try it, its about $13 and lasts up to 2 weeks. Also, your haircut could make a difference, ask your stylist to style it so it doesn't look like a pyramid. They should distribute the weight evenly- ex: layers is what i have....risky the shorter you go but fun when you use the right styling products! Don't forget to ask them to use the razor on your hair! get it trimmed every 6-7 weeks. Condition hair each week or every other week. Ask your stylist what they suggest. Good luck and best hair days!
Try using a hair relaxer. If you can't use that then I think the best thing to do is try to use a flat iron to straighten your hair.

It my take more time at first but after a while it get way easy and way quick.
go talk to whoever cuts your hair regularly..

they know your hair the best and they will be able to tell you what products to use.

go on the internet and look up hair relaxers.

and theres always chemical straightening and deep conditioning
they make special cream for relaxing curls it makes your hair shinier and not so poofy. u can get it at at a drug store cheap
K i straighten my hair everyday, there isnt a perfect solution to have staight hair without striaghtening it unless ur hair is already straight, i scrunch my hair with moose and hair spray when i dont have time. I put my bangs back in a poof..

    good luck!!
i have shoulder lenght hair that is curly - sometime frizz and unmanagable. when i get out of the shower i use john freda frizz cream (don't use too much your hair will be greasy) then i use a frizz gel buy suave then just alittle hair spray and i'm out the door - my hair actually is very calm and my girls look great.

  • How do I keep my naturally curly hair curly?

I am black and I have hella thick hair. I love the waves I see when my hair is wet but I can't figure out a way to keep the waves once I blow dry and detangle. Can anyone help? What should I do after wash/conditioning? What products will work on my hair? I am not mixed, BTW. I think other black females with natural hair would best know, but I will gladly take suggestions from anyone who thinks they can help me rock my natural look. How do I keep my naturally curly hair curly?
I'm not black but I am a hair stylist. I would have to suggest using for starters a good serum, such as Bain de Terre recovery complex. Where you have thick hair and probably relatively coarse, you should use about a nickel to quarter size amount in the palm of your hand, rub it into your palms and scrunch into your hair starting from the back and working forward.

You could finish it with a good conditioning balm scrunching it in and using your finger tips to style.

You may not want to use your blow dryer, just let it dry naturally, trying not to touch it much in the process, touching your curls will make them frizz easier. When it is dry, if it still seems frizzy, try using a small amount more of the serum and conditioning balm rubbed well in your palms and lightly scrunch into your dry hair.

Hope this helps! How do I keep my naturally curly hair curly?
I have the same hair. I wear it curly all the time. DONT BLOWDRY IT!! it makes it frizzy. I would let it dry naturally and maybe you should put alittle bit of gel in it and scrunch it. I use ringlet.
my bff has trhe same thing she actually puts gell in it and flips it upside down and crunches it with her hand it works well and looks amazing alos go to the store there are alot of shampoes that say curling shampoo they help alot.....have fun
use sunsilk! dont blow dry or detangle!!! use conditioner in the shower!!!
using smooth and shine creme gel works well its a creme styling product. It works really well.
Don't blow dry with very hot air, and you should be fine.
Im not black, but I did have REALLY curl hair when I was younger. Your hair is always going to be more ';together'; when its wet, and Im guessing that blowdrying isnt helping at all.
Let your hair dry naturally. And if you have to blow dry it, use a diffuser.

What is the evolutionary meaning of curly hair?

Or wavy and straight hair for that matter? Guesses are okay. :)What is the evolutionary meaning of curly hair?
Curly/kinky hair is a much better protection against UV light. It has been shown that straight hair acts as optical fibers guiding the UV light to the skin. So straight hair is an advantage in Nordic countries (you need UV to produce vitamin D) and kinky hair is an advantage in the hot African sun.

The other advantage of curly hair is that it creates air pockets, keeping the head cooler.

What products are good for thick curly hair ?

Yea so I have thick curly hair and was wondering what products I can use to keep it healthy and growing. Like what product beside gel, jam or spritz can I use to make my curls freeze up ? But not damage my hair. What products are good for thick curly hair ?
i have thick curly hair and so does my 9 yr old daughter and my 19 month old son is starting to get them...I use L'oreal springing curls!! Do not rub when you towel dry as that creates frizz...As for shampoo and conditioner..I use NexxusWhat products are good for thick curly hair ?
Start with Aussie shampoo (works great with your hair type). Then go onto a leave in conditioner and then blow dry it. It cuts out a ton of the poofiness and frizz.
aussie brand dual personality.. it's a mousse and leave in conditioner in one.. it'll make our hair hold the curls but it wont make them all stiff.. and it's a conditioner so it's helping your hair as it holds it..

i use it and i love it.. and my hair is think and curly as well..
My hair is the same way... I use Catwalk curls rock shampoo and conditioner. It works great. To make sure I dont loose my curls I dont brush it. I shampoo condition then towel dry and I add the catwalk leave in conditioner to protect my hair the finish it off by crunching some catwalk curl amplifier and just let it air dry. Frizz is no longer a preoblem and it only takes like 2 minutes to have great hair! I tried redken curls and i didnt get as much definition as i do with catwalk. I also tried ABBA and it also dosnt give me definition and there is some frizz... but, abba has this curl reactor and it works well. you just need a few sprits and your ready! good luck

How can I straighten my short curly hair?

I want to have some bangs. My hair only goes to halfway down my forehead only when i pull it down. Its curly. How can I straighten my short curly hair?
You can get it professionally done by getting it permanently straightened, but the roots will grow back curly. You can also get your hair relaxed and straighten it yourself, it will make it easier. Or you can tough it out, buy a straightener and do it by hand. ConAir sells this amazing hair-dryer that has an attachment on it where it straightens while you blow dry it. Any because you have short hair, it will be less to straighten. Good luck! :-)How can I straighten my short curly hair?
Put hair spray on it and use a straightening iron.
Just use a straightening iron.. make sure it's ceramic or else it'll damage your hair.
you need a good quality straightener. use 'helen of troy' - that's one's good, but not as expensive as the 'Chi' (which is also good)

do NOT get conair - personal exp. - it stinks for curly haired people

also, don't use hairspray or any product before using a straightener - you're not supposed to - a good straightener will do the job itself
well, i dont have short hair, but my hair is curly. i use a straightener. it should work on short hair, though. you can buy a cheap one for like $20.
there are two options for you.

    1) you can get it professionally done at a salon it will last till the new hair starts to grow. then you would have to touch it up

    2) you could also some styling gel on then blow dry your hair to get it straight. after that take a hair straightener with ceramic plates and run it down from root till the tip of your hair.

caution if water comes in contact with your hair after you have straightened it it will become a bit wavy. since there is a lot of heat being applied to your hair ensure that you condition it often or use hair masks to protect the hair from damage
buy a straightening product to put in your hair before you actually straighten it. this will protect your hair from damage. you can find products like this at any grocery store for cheap. then use a ceramic plate straightener and start at the bottom half of your hair

How do I keep my naturally curly hair from frizzing?

My hair is very thick, coarse textured and curly, the curls don't lay all uniform and pretty like a perm, they seemingly have lives of their own-lol. But just a little humidity turns my hair into an instant mess. Even leaving it curly with lots of gel instead of blow drying it does not help, are there any products to help? How do I keep my naturally curly hair from frizzing?
I wouldn't recommend biosilk - I've tried it and it just weighs my hair down and it's hard to wash out, very heavy.

I have had incredible success following the ';curly girl'; instructions, a book I found many years ago. Here they are in short form, but if you can find it somewhere, do buy it, it's a great read and all your curly haired friends will love to borrow it! Mine is always out on loan. Anyways, here is what you have to do:

    1. STOP shampooing - it just dries out your hair and makes it brittle and frizzy. Instead, use conditioner to wash and then conditioner to condition. Basically you cannot ';shampoo'; with a product that has sodium lauryl sulfate in it, that is the stuff they put in dishwashing soap - it creates a lather and ruins the texture of your hair. I found a shampoo that does not have sodium laurel sulfate and I use it when I feel my hair is getting a bit heavy. Curly hair has more openings in it than straight hair - because the scales do not lay flat. This means that it dries out much faster and needs to be treated very very gently. So if you do this first step it will go a LONG way! It might take a little while - I had best results when I cut my hair very short and started from scratch, you don't have to do that but do get a good trim after you get started to get rid of some of your damaged hair.

    2. Leave a little conditioner in your hair. Curly hair is thirsty hair, like I said, very dry. It needs a little help.

    3. Do a cold water rinse, to seal the hair shaft - I don't need to do this myself but you may like the results, experiment with it.

    3. Lastly, never never never brush your hair. After washing gently with conditioner and then conditioning, pat it dry with a towel and put in your gel or what have you (no biosilk!). I like mousse, gel, or gel spray myself. Then, let it dry naturally, without running fingers through or brushing. Believe me, it is hard to do because at about half time it doesn't look so hot! But it is worth the wait. It sounds like you have REALLY curly hair, where as I have wavy-curly hair - as I dry my hair I need to flip my head upside down serveral times to let the curls find themselves and get loose from the other hair - you could try this and see if it works for you.

    4. If you still get a few frizzy hairs after all this (I sometimes do if I don't put enough product in), you can put something creamy over those fine hairs that are just sticking out - I sometimes even use hand cream if I don't have my anti friz cream.

GOOD LUCK! I hope this advice works for you! Society just does not seem to support us curly girls, even though all the ladies at work are super jealous of my hair. ( I wish I had straight hair of course!) For example, on What Not To Wear, they make most of the curly haired ladies iron their poor curls straight ( not good to fry already frizzy hair!) and this from a man who has curls. I always think ';JERKS!'; So the ladies get a hair makeover that lasts the one day and they go home feeling bad about their curly hair. No help from Nick at all. It frustrates the hell out of me - on TV and movies 99.9% of the time, straight haired girls are on such a pedestal! (And they are in the minority, most people have wavy or culy hair!) Anyways. My rant is over!! :)How do I keep my naturally curly hair from frizzing?
curly hair is difficult to control it style because it frizzes and shrink after in water.i believe that Redken Fresh Curls Shampoo for curly hair ,Curl Friends Cleanse Daily Shampoo for Curly Hair, Loreal Vive Curl Vive Shampoo For Curly Hair, and Marc Anthony xForever Long Shampoo for Curly Hair are good products for curly hair to keep it in tacked and not frizz.
Oil is the only thing that helps. I share this problem. Blow drying is bad for the hair.

Best to take a little oil and rub it all over. Avoid the top of head; do the tangles. Then, after towel drying, take the hair and tie with a band. Lose Pony style. Crunch the rest of the hair. Leave it that way for a while. Then take away the band and let that portion dry.

I am afraid, nothing much can be done during humidity.

A product we use is Aveda brilliant styling cream Helps.
You didn't say whether your hair is dry or oily, but you could be describing my hair. I use a shampoo and conditioner for dry/ damaged or color treated hair. Mine is VERY dry by nature. I really like TRESemme and it is fairly inexpensive. I NEVER blow dry as it dries my hair and makes it frizzier. I towel wrap for a few minutes, to pull out the excess water. I then use a leave in cream conditioner, called Paul Mitchell, The Conditioner. Beauty supply stores sometimes sell a generic of this product. I make sure it is thoroughly combed through and use it as my styling agent and style it as I could like and leave dry. When my hair get caught in wind or rain, I use Infusium spray for touch ups and keep a small spray bottle with me most of the time. Never comb or brush dry, that adds to the frizz.

The style also makes a difference. I always wore long hair and it was easier to manage. I have short hair now because of chemo, and it is much harder to control. Wet windy days and curly hair are a good formula for pony tails or french braids and I do not have that option yet.

I am glad that you asked this question. I am enjoying reading the answers and am always looking for new ideas.
some new shampoos have frizz control in them now, so you should research that, but BEDHEAD has a gel/ mouse that you put in your hair and it works really well it's called friz control or something like that but it's in most walmarts. they are different kinds of colors the bottles i mean . but it really helps.
use serums or products designed especially for silky curls. i suggest buying one you find that will work best, then when your hair is wet, with product on your hands, slowly wrap strands of hair around your fingers to form a curl. once you've done all your hair, dry on low heat with a diffuser, and that should help bunches
The ';Frizz Ease'; products that you can buy in the store are quite good. They don't entirely fix the problem - but they help a lot.

I finally just cut my hair off - and now at less than an inch in most places - the frizz (and most of the curl) is gone.
My hair is just like yours! I use John Frieda's frizz ease serum, you have to put it on when you have just washed your hair. its really good. hope that helped. :D
Keep your hair from drying out by using a cream or something, dry hair is more susceptible to frizzies...
use herbal essences in the skinny purple bottle...its mousse and its called totally twisted...i have the same problem and this totally helps
make sure you condition really well. and try something likea suave healthy curls. or garnier frutise surf hair. they both work really well at fighting frizz
    bioslilk works really good!

How can I keep my naturally curly hair under control?

I have naturally curly hair buy it's very poufy and frizzy whenever I wear it down. What can I do to keep it from being frizzy and to control when I wear it down? How can I keep my naturally curly hair under control?
I have naturally curly hair myself, and have worn it that way for the last 15 years. The first thing you need is a good hair cut. Curly hair works best with long layers. This keeps the curls from piling up on top of one another, and gives it some movement - nobody wants helmet-head!

    Styling Products:

You will probably have to experiment with different shampoos/conditioners and styling products to find out which combination works best for you. I would suggest the following:

    - A Shampoo and Conditioner designed for curly hair (there are tons out there - and no need to pay top dollar for salon brands most of the time). Be sure to use a deep conditioning treatment once a week to re-hydrate. I like Aussie 3 minute miracle, but you can use plain old olive oil or mayo as well - just use before shampooing, and leave on for at least 30 minutes (put on a shower cap and wrap with a heated towel for full benefits).

    - An anti-frizz product (Aussie makes a good leave in conditioner/anti frizz combo product, and L'oreal studio line has a decent anti-frizz cream - I liked their old formulation better though).

    - Gel or mousse, depending on the type of hold you want. I prefer Frizz Ease mousse - it holds my hair without making it crunchy. I also like the mousse from Suave's curly-hair line (can't remember the name but they're in dark blue-green bottles, and each product sells for less than $2).

    - Spray gel or hair spray (I like Aussie's anti-humidity spray...can't remember what it's called). Just a few spritzes on mostly-dry hair is enough to keep everything under control.

    How to Style:

I *always* use a diffuser when I dry my hair. I prefer one that has a bit of a bowl and long fingers - my absolute favorite was made by Vidal Sassoon but they don't make it any more. A close second is the Sunbeam EuroAir diffuser. I don't think you can buy it in stores any more, but I found at least one example on ebay - http://cgi.ebay.com/Sunbeam-EuroAir-Diff鈥?/a>

Always start with very damp hair (I finger-comb my hair when it has conditioner in it to get out the tangles, and once I rinse it out, I squeeze out the extra water and pull it up in a clip. I don't towel dry my hair at all, and don't own a comb or a brush). When I'm ready to do my hair, I flip my head over and scrunch the products through my hair one at a time starting at the ends of my hair - I use anti frizz, then mousse or gel. This gets all of the layers instead of just the top of your head. This which helps to control the under layers of frizz, and keeps your hair from being crunchy once it dries.

When you're ready to dry your hair, flip over again and use the hair dryer on medium or cool heat, and a fairly low speed - you want to cradle the curls as they dry, not blast the hell out of them - that just causes frizz. Concentrate on your roots (always scrunching with your hand, or resting the curls on the diffuser), drying them most of the way. Stand up, fix the hair to part where you want (or where it wants!), and if you don't have time to air-dry your hair the rest of the way, dry it just enough so that it doesn't feel wet any more. The more slowly it dries, the less frizzy it will be.

It sounds complicated, but it takes me less time to get ready than most of my non-curly haired friends. Plus, if you wake up late one day, just spritz on a little water, re-scrunch and you're good to go. Nobody will know you're having a bad hair day :-)

    Good luck!

put mousse in it! my friend has the same hair as you and she looks amazing when she just puts mousse in it
I have very curly hair and I use mousse to control it, cause if I don't, it gets really frizzy. I tried several brands from expensive to cheap one, but the one that has worked the best for me has been Aussie-for Curls (purple bottle with a kangaroo). After I apply the mousse I spay a little bit of hair spray also from Aussie for curls. It smells great and give my hair the perfect curls. People ask me often what do I. Give it a try.

I have the same issues. I like John Freida's hair gel. Plus, it's really affordable : http://www.totalbeauty.com/reviews/produ鈥?/a>

    Some tips:

1.If you wash your hair make sure you give it 2-3 days before washing it again with shampoo. Use conditioner on the between days.

    2. Don't rub your hair with a towel. Squeeze your hair with the towel to prevent split ends.

    3. If you straighten or blow dry make sure you buy a heat protecting product. I like got2b or John Freida's products for this.

    Anyway, thats it-good luck!
    Hi.

There are so many little details when it comes to curly hair styling and products.

Your best bet would be to go to a hair salon and ask for advice. Hopefully you are going to stumble across a PRO, who will be able to name you the best products for YOUR needs.

Also, hair salons usually sell the TOP products. They might be a bit costly - but they are totally worth it.

Hmm.. well, what flat iron do you use? Product, if any? Also, this is an extreme option but well, it's kinda expensive 100+ it's a japanese perm where they PERMANENTALLY straighten your hair but you have to get touchup every 5-6 months. It's about as damaging as flat ironing it completely 1 time.
I dont have an answer so sorry! But you answered my question earlier about how my hair wont curl right and I have an answer for my own question!!! Give me your email and I will email it to you! :]

  • How should I sleep with my curly hair so it doesnt get ruined?

I have fairly curly hair but sometimes its more like extremely wavy. After I take a shower its pretty and curly but if i sleep on it, wet or dry, the next morning its flat and lifeless. I've tried numerous hair products but none seem to work. What should I do?How should I sleep with my curly hair so it doesnt get ruined?
Try sleeping with your hair in a hair turban. Some call it plopping (see my source website). Or you could use a silk shower cap.

Another alternative is to sleep with your hair in a high ponytail with a scrunchie (cloth covered hair tie). This only works if your hair is dry however and you are trying to preserve the curls. How should I sleep with my curly hair so it doesnt get ruined?
Roll up your hair. What I mean is at night, take strands of your hair, and roll them up just the way they are. If it's a wide circle, or small ones, or something in between, clip them in place. In the morning, brush or shake loose, and that's it.

During the night, especially if your hair is damp, you are ';setting'; your hair into a new shape. But if you shaped your hair either with braids (waves) or curls or anything else you want, then they will stay in that shape. It doesn't take very long to do, and you don't have to be too careful. But form it into the shape you want, and they will stay that way in the morning.
This is what I do when I want to keep my hair lasting over night. Take your hair and wrap around your head tightly and clip it back. Of course, this will vary with hair length and the more hair might work less. Try not to let any hair out and make sure your hair will stay clipped while you sleep at night. The best thing to do is wear a hair net to bed (Not the lunch Lady kind).
Take showers in the morning, braiding will ruin the curliness. I have the same hair and took a shower yesterday then woke up to find it all over this morning, and thats why i usually take them in the mornings.
    well i say just do what u normally do and add gel to your hair or blow dry it in the morning for the extra ';omh';

How do I make my naturally curly hair soft and not stiff?

I have naturally curly hair, and all I normally do is put Aussie gel %26amp; Aussie hairspray in it. It works great, but it lets my hair stiff. I've tried just the gel, but it gets frizzy. What can I use on my hair that will keep it curly and non frizzy, but not be so stiff? How do I make my naturally curly hair soft and not stiff?
    I personally like Tresemme'.

I use the hair volumizer and the curling gel...Omg I love it.

It gives you beautiful soft, controllable curly hair.

It allows you to do anything with it.

You can start off with dove shampoo and conditioner, that's what I do because it helps makes your hair softer.

Or you can try a leave in conditioner as well.

None of these products are expensive..you can get them at pretty much any store such as Target, Rite-Aid, etc.

    I hope I helped.

How much does the prevalence of curly hair vary throughout Europe?

I have heard many things about curly hair being associated with African ancestry. Now, there is genetic evidence of varying amounts of DNA from African migrations into Europe, or contact with Phoenicians and the like, in certain regions, but I'm not sure how much to believe it. I want to know if the prevalence of curly hair matches up with the appropriate regions. Is curly hair significantly more common around the Mediterranean and the Balkans than elsewhere in Europe? How much does the prevalence of curly hair vary throughout Europe?
Curly hair is found among all Europeans.

EVEN some scandinavians have got curly hair.

it has nothing to do with ';africans'; or ';races';. It's just HUMAN!How much does the prevalence of curly hair vary throughout Europe?
Curly hair is caused by a gene, which is not related to race. In Europe it is common in white redheads, young children, the Welsh (think Tom Jones),some Irish, some Mediterranean peoples. The Welsh and Irish are related in prehistoric times to Iberian peoples hence the connection between them and the Med..

Places like Wales and ireland actually have some of the lowest rates of any non-European admixture in their dna in all of Europe (less than half a percent) so no, it's not connected to any mixed ancestry.

technically, caucasians are said to have wavy hair rather than straight btw.
There are higher rates in the UK especially in Ireland, and I think it may be due to the activity of the Barbary Pirates from Morocco and Algeria many centuries ago.

They took captives as slaves from along the Iberian Coast, from Spain to Ireland and West of Britain.

Maybe look it up on wikipedia?

I know that in Algeria, there is a village where the people there are unusually fair. Maybe from the Barbary slave trade.
In Ireland and Britain it's common with blonds and red heads when young but disappears with age. It is a sign of beauty there. Many roman statues have semi curly hair and was brought there by the romans. It could have some african or middle eastern origin too but it is so remote now 2000 years later. Try this site it will tell u how white you are and where. It's awesome. https://www.23andme.com/
The evidence suggests that our species of homo sapiens (there used to be more than one) originated in Africa. So arguably it can show up anywhere. Some lines have maintained the gene while others have maintained other genes (ie- far east asians/ native americans, which may have been some of the first to migrate out of Africa)
1st of all, pretty much all evidence shows that homo sapiens came from Africa. There is not much question about that. We left in various waves, so some are closer genetically than others.
i dunno but i have a head of awesomely curly hair and i'm half white half black!

How do I turn my naturally curly hair into smaller curls?

My hair naturally has big wavy curls, but I am curious to see what it would look like with smaller, curlier curls. What could I do that is quick, easy, and looks good?

Ty!How do I turn my naturally curly hair into smaller curls?
My hair is also naturally curly in this wavy way...and I like it to look curly, so this is how I do it:

When I wash my hair, when wet I add serum, then comb with a wide tooth comb, then add a gel that seperates the hair, scrunch it up with my fingers, then let it dry naturally.

    It looks great!

:)How do I turn my naturally curly hair into smaller curls?
get a small ceramic curling iron, you have to buy them froma salon supplier or small curlers that you can leave on while your putting on your makeup. I would invest in a small caermaic (only) curling iron, just because its gonna make your hair look really shiny and healthy. buy one the heats up to at least 400
i had thesame problem. you know what i did, i straighten my hair (bonding) they look good now.

    try this

have a nice curls and bangs

How do you get tightly wound curly hair to fall in looser curls?

I'm so tired of hearing only how straight haired people can get loose curls or wavy hair. I want to know how i can get my frizzy curls looser and wavier. How do you get tightly wound curly hair to fall in looser curls?
first of all try not to blow dry you hair all the time because it will take out all the moisture in your hair and that causes more frizz...so if you want a loose curl you could when you are washing your hair try not to wash out all the conditioner, so that you have moisture and use curlers or maybe even a regular hair curler

-hopefully it should work =)How do you get tightly wound curly hair to fall in looser curls?
you can get a relaxer perm... it just relaxes the curls and helps with the frizziness...
use products to relax the curls.
