How do you get curly hair to stay straight without a perm?

My little girl has naturally curly hair and I would like it to stay straight at least for a couple days. I have tried pressing it and flat irons it does work to straighten it but the next day when she gets up it is all curly again. And this happens even with me wrapping it up at night. I must add that my little girl is african american so if anyone can help me please do.

Thanks in advance,

thermal straightening, sometimes called the japanese straightening technique. its done at salons, kind of expensive though, but it keeps your hair straight until curly roots grow back. How do you get curly hair to stay straight without a perm?
it might be curly again after a day because shes sweating it out at night or during the day the perms in the store are no good they have floor wax in them and there just bad for you if you take her to a salon and get the good perms it will be worth the money and you should see a difference you might have to go over her hair every day with a flat iron
Why don't you just work with her natural hair, so she doesn't feel like she needs to straighten it. I think you just leave if natural now and build its strength, but she can start straightening if she wants when she gets older. I believe it would give her the self-esteem to wear her hair anyway she wants. There's a sight called Naturallycurly.com. There is a forum for all hair types from wavy to kinky.
