What are the consequences of chemical straightening on curly hair?

I have really curly and extremely frizzy hair and i was wondering if there would be negative effects if i get a chemical straightening done on my hair.

Also, i have heard that there is also something called a chemical relaxer, and I was wondering what is the difference between the two, and which would be better. What are the consequences of chemical straightening on curly hair?
Relaxers are less damaging and will just make your hair wavy. Permanent straightening is super damaging and lasts for about 6 months, at which time your hair will start to grow back in curly. It also costs about $200. In my opinion it's really not worth it when you could learn how to wear your curls naturally!

Here are some basic tips for curly hair that you might find helpful:

*Try to find a stylist who knows how to work with curly hair. You can find ratings by region here: http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlsalons

*Don't shampoo every day.

*Comb conditioner through hair in the shower.

*Never use a brush, only a comb, or better yet fingers, when wet.

*Apply styling products to dripping wet hair

*Use styling products suited for your hair type. Don鈥檛 know yours? http://www.naturallycurly.com/hair-types

*Avoid terrycloth towels; use microfiber or tshirts instead.

*Air dry or use a diffuser with your blowdryer.

*Don't touch your hair while it鈥檚 drying.

For specific products for your hair type you might want to explore the forums at:

There you can find others with the same hair type and try out some of their favorite products. So that鈥檚 really useful.

Lastly, it has made my hair so much better since I started the curly girl method! I used to almost never wear it down (it was a frizz/poof ball), but now I have pretty, shiny curls. ~:) It鈥檚 pretty radical鈥攏o sulfates (shampoo) or silicones鈥攂ut it鈥檚 so great for curly hair. Well, i always thought that chemical straightening and relaxing was the same thing...they just break up the bonds that holds you hair into curls.

Both could have negative effects of drying your hair out so it becomes extremely over time. Without proper conditioning or treatment this could lead to hair breakages at the roots, basically your hair could break off as soon as it started to grow. I think with the brittle hair it could become even MORE frizzy....

i personally wouldn't take either...and would go with Japanese straightening, it does the same thing only much better and it doesn't kill your hair. But its your opinion.
I just had the Brazilian Keratin Hair Straightening. I LOVE IT! My hair is so horrible. Now I can blow dry in 15 minutes, and only use the flat iron on the ends. I am raving about it now. loving it! My hair has never looked or felt better since I was young! Check out http://www.sickoffrizz.com/brazilian-hai/a>

It's all natural!
Any type of chemical treatment without proper care through conditionng and moisturizing can cause it to become dry and brittle which will result in breakage. So if you decide to take that road just be prepared to follow up to maintain healthy hair.
major damaging. Ojon products transform hair its amazing!

the tag is ';the people of beautiful hair'; very true!

the ';restorative'; product is perfect for at home treatment for frizzy hair
Really dry, really damaging, really expensive, probably wouldn't last that long, really frizzy and really just worse! Espeically if you are one of those girls who straightens there hair everyday or almost everyday previous to getting your hair chemically straightened!
u have to be sure to really condition your hair... but i think if you have it done professionally and ensure that you deep condition it weekly you will be pleased with the results..good luck
