What products/ techniques are good for curly hair?

Have you found any brand or product that works particularly well consistently?

Is there any way you dry your hair that has a big impact or gets you a certain desirable look? What products/ techniques are good for curly hair?
If you want to run out and pick something up locally, I recommend trying LA Looks or Herbal essences gels (drugstore); Biotera gel and cream (Sally's Beauty Supply); Suave Naturals/vo5 conditioners (really cheap); Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Condish (semi-cheap but super moisturizing, found at organics/specialty stores); red Cream of Nature shampoo (drugstore again); and L'oreal out of bed weightless texturizer (black tub, use under gel). These are all good things to try, and be sure to tinker around with amounts and how you use any products.

For specific products for your hair type you might also want to explore the forums at:

There you can find others with the same hair type and try out some of their favorite products.

Here are some basic tips for curly hair that you might find helpful:

*Try to find a stylist who knows how to work with curly hair. You can find ratings by region here: http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlsalons

*Don't shampoo every day.

*Comb conditioner through hair in the shower.

*Never use a brush on dry hair, only untangle when the hair is wet.

*Apply styling products to dripping wet hair. Scrunch or twirl hair to achieve desired shape.

*Use styling products suited for your hair type. Don鈥檛 know yours? http://www.naturallycurly.com/hair-types

*Avoid terrycloth towels; use microfiber or t-shirts instead.

*Air dry or use a diffuser with your blowdryer.

*Don't touch (or brush!) your hair while it鈥檚 drying.

*Once dry scrunch out any crunchy texture.

Lastly, it has made my hair so much better since I started the curly girl method! I used to almost never wear it down (it was a frizz/poof ball), but now I have pretty, shiny curls. ~:) It鈥檚 pretty radical鈥攏o sulfates (shampoo) or silicones鈥攂ut it鈥檚 so great for curly hair. there are three main things you can do to manage your curly hair. and they are cleansing, conditioning and controlling. you want to find shampoos that will bring moisture and Natural elements in your hair. Some curly hair needs a moisturizing shampoo, while other curly hair needs a strengthening shampoo. i am un shure of any products that will work for you but i hope my Information helps you choice and find a products.
condition. condition. condition. condition.

cool rinse. don't rub your hair with the towel.

comb it. get shine serum %26amp;/or leave in condition

work it in from ends to roots so your roots don't look greasy.

let it air dry.

one last thing. HANDS OFF! haha.

it'll just get frizzy if you mess with it.
Lots of conditioner from the ear down. Finish with a cold rinse. Wrap head in a towel do not rub. When hair is no longer dripping pick out hair or comb gently, add curl activator or mouse. sometimes I clamp up the curls with hair jaws. Then allow to air dry. If you get any fuzzy hairs, touch it up with small or medium curling iron. Do not play to much with it.
i usually put tressemme mousse in my hair about 15-20 minutes after air drying.

i also use dove's defrizzing creme in as well.

it works wonders.
