I have curly hair that totally goes flat when I brush it how do I keep it from flattening?

I totally goes down when I brush it, or even when I use a small toothed comb. It's totally messy in the morning, but I want to keep it curly. Because it's so messy, I have to do something to tame it, but anything I do seems to flatten it. Any suggestions for keeping it curly, yet stopping it from going flat when I try to make it presentable?I have curly hair that totally goes flat when I brush it how do I keep it from flattening?

Use a wide tooth comb, not a brush, or small tooth comb.
